Rugby star passes on advice to Coleg Gwent students

Coleg Gwent rugby students were last week treated to an elite masterclass by one of Wales’ highest performing women rugby stars.

Philippa Tuttiett has represented Wales at international level for more than 12 years playing in three World Cups, six European Championships, seven Home Nations and seven Six Nations Championships.  Last week Philippa visited Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys Campus to work with the College’s girls’ rugby team, and motivate them to achieve success in their sport.  Philippa is a Mentor on the Sky Sports Living for Sport project, which involves a variety of sporting stars visiting schools and colleges, sharing their stories and using the skills and experiences they’ve developed on their journey to inspire young people to achieve their best.

In a lively and engaging couple of hours, Philippa described to the girls how she progressed from a small girl, determined to win her very first race in school sports day, to how she broke through the male dominated world of first class rugby and rose to fame as one of Wales’ top performing rugby players.
